Default Vossen CV1 Lip unrepairable?

I found a mystery dent on my CV1 and i was told by a friend that it is unrepairable and to buy a whole new rim! I find this hard to believe, the dent is not that bad. I have zero experience with wheel repair but to me this seems like an easy fix. Does anyone think this can be repaired or am i SOL?

It looks like it can be fixed. I've seen wheels with way worse damage get fixed.

I hope mine can at least be reshapped a little, but everything i have heard and read is that vossen uses a thin chromed stainless steel sort of cover that is perminantly pressed on the lip and it can't be repaired

Has anyone had any repairs done on a one piece vossen or similar wheel with the pressed on lip?

If that is the case, good chance it will not be repairable in terms of aesthetics... I've seen a few other wheels with those style covered lips... really kinda sucks because I don't think I've ever seen a wheel repair shop be able to repair one to look like it did from the factory...

I have PM'd Jav from Vossen directly about a possible repair of the lip on my VVS-078's and he said the only thing that can be done is take the stainless cover off. This doesn't sound bad but I still have yet to see what it looks like under. It may not look as nice.

They should be black like the rest of the rim.

I was talking more about the shape of the lip. I wouldn't take it off if it wasn't a rolled lip like the cover. I just wouldn't like having a lip that has weird angles and such.

This post is a bit old, but i was searching through the net to find the answer to the question brought up about whats beneath the vossen stainless steel lip..

In summary, it looked fine underneath my Vossen VVS-078 minus a little paint chipping.

I've posted my findings on the Audiforums.com website along with photos.

I provided the answer but I guess no one believed me...

manufacturers usually finish the entire wheel and add the stainless sleep lips at the end. It doesn't make sense to clear or mask and takes a lot of time for them, so once the wheel is completely clear coated and looking pretty they add the stainless steel lip.
