Default Sc430 tire size question

hey guys,

I was thinking of getting some Maido MD-1s in 18by8 and was wondering what tire size i should go. I am thinking 245-40-18 (which is stock of course) but can i go bigger? Also does anyone recomend any good ALL season tires because they will be used in the winter. Any help will be much appriciated.

Also anyone have exprience with the MD-1s? Do they have the pressure sensor.

Thanks
Mike

sorry for the repost but i'm thinking about buying soon.

I guess it depends how much snow you will be driving through but I honestly would only recommend stand alone snow tires if you are running your SC430 in the white stuff..

The MD-1's are almost exactly like the TRD Upgrade wheels which I know will accommodate the pressure sensors but the MD-1's I am unsure about the sensors.. If you like hit Steve Ganz (SUPRATRD) up via PM and he might still have a set for sale..

This is what I recommend if you still want to run 18's in winter:

Pirelli Winter 240 in a thinner wheel with more sidewall:

235/45/18 - Only a 2.4% difference in overall height

Best solution for winter thou is to downsize your wheels to 17" and you don't lose too much in the looks department but gain alot in safety.. Someone is always selling used GS wheels and they fit perfect on the SC430..

Hope that helps!

thanks for the helpful info 2savvy

After searching on the web for rims all day I'm thinking I might want something else. Anyone familiar with Gewalt Evo 3s (tire pressure sensor compadible)? I want to do 19x9 in the front and 19x10 in the rear. I'm not really sure what size tires I should be running or if the size is ok (I could do the width 8 in the front and 9 in the back). Also should I get bigger tires in the back? Once again any help or info would be very appreciated.

Anybody know any good quilty CHEAP tires (kuhmo/falkens??)

how about Kuhmo 712s 275/30-19 in the rear and 255/40ZR19 in the front?

Also I would like some opinions on picking Either

Madio MD-1 18x8 for 1300

OR These stagered 19'' Gewalts for about 380 each?

and sorry for asking so many questions but can 19's be done without a drop? I do not want to comprimise the lexus ride but dont want to look like a 4x4

thanks in advance
Mike

Here is a pic of the rims but Mine are black to match the blk sc430

The "correct" tire size will be 245/35/19 and 275-285/30/19.

I'd recommend no wider than 8.5" wide in front and 9.5" or 10" in the rear.

Yes. Your car is going to look like a 4x4 with that small a tire. There is a pic floating around of an CS with 19's and no drop...looks....well...not so good (nice rims on it though).

Look into a good set of coilovers like the Tein CS...soft as stock.

Good luck.

Ryan

Also, there are few wheels that will accomodate the sensors...try HRE!!!

I love it... "good quality cheap tires"

They are mutually exclusive... like buying a new $12999 Lexus!

I usually do not go the cheap route (i have racing hart c-5 on the rx7 and Volk te37 on the rsx) but I decided I wanted to invest in a Auto PC (Gnetcanada.com) in the near future.

Anyway I have decided on the Gewalt evo 19x9 in the front and 19x10 in the back with some S03s on the sc430.

All comments and info will be helpful

thanks
Mike
