Default Opinion on MHT Chrome Wheels

On ebay, I purchased a used set of Chrome MHT Monterey wheels. There were from a LS400 with Lexus logos. I thought the wheels were 17x8, but they are 16x7. From 10 feet away these wheels look great, but I am now having second thoughts on whether I want to put these wheels on my Green 1997 SC300 five speed. Before I buy tires for these wheels I like your opinon of these wheels on a SC300. Thanks in advance

P.S. I hope the link works!!!!

i just poked around the net a bit, I am going to guess they are a cheap knockoff wheel company, and if not a knockoff company, they are a low quality wheel maker

lunasea,

MHT is a decent grade of wheel for a mass produced brand. They are mid-high quality and the chrome doesn't tend to chip or come off like cheap wheels.

However, your stocks are probably the same size and therefore spending cash on wheels without going to 17 or larger, probably isn't worth it.

MHT is not a knock off brand company.

When I had an eclipse... I thought they had Niche Pultecs. Even had Niche caps. When I took them off to put 18" Altstadts on... I was like OH WTH! I see MHT on the inside..... LoL

Default LS400 Wheels from dealer

My understanding that these wheels come off of a LS 400 which were dealer installed. The wheels have 12/94 on the inside of the wheels.

I believe they are associated/owned by the same company as niche/neeper. Which are pretty good wheels imo. The designs of their wheels are usually original, too original for my tastes actually. If it were me I would probably sell them and get a set of bigger wheels.

I have pulled MHT wheels out of the box and sent them right back. One time they sent me 3 sets of wheels and I spent an entire morning inspecting for excessive runout of the wheel and poor chrome finish. Needless to say, I did find 4 good wheels out of the 12. If you want to avoid chrome peeling in the future, get rid of the wheels and spend a little bit more money on higher quality wheels. If you look closely on the wheel you will find "Made in China" stamped somewhere.

Good luck.

MHT's are cost a little bit expecially in larger sizes. They are not a knock-off they are the parent company of Neeper. They have some sweet designs but a little to close in price to Lowenharts (for 20in.)
