Default 2013 Lexus GS F-Sport Tires: Tirerack help needed

Hello,

I have the 19 inch 235/40/19 tire specs on my GS F-Sport AWD with Bridgestone Turanza EL400. I find the tires a bit unrefined on highways but overrall its not that bad of a tire. I want to get better all season tires with better grip, ride, snow traction, and longetivity. I have purchased Michelins before many times however not much all season choices on tirerack website for 235/40/19.

Question:
Can I do 245/40/19 tires? The rims are quite wide and should tolerate this tire size. I have done extra thick tires before. So if thats the case and the speedo is less than 1.10% error, is the Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires good for this car? I do not like the DWS (too soft, mushy, poor quality control and had vibration on my BMW with these before switching to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S). Will there be rubbing?

That size would be just fine... In that size, the MXM4 should be a great tire as well... I assume, based on that tire, you are looking for something similar to the EL400, all season, performance oriented, but more of a touring tire than anything else?

We have not yet had a 13' Lexus GS350 F Sport into our service bay to do the proper scans and calculations. At this moment in time all I have is the manufacture data on the vehicle so I don't have the availability recommend anything other than stock sizing. However, the size you have now is 26.3" tall and the tire you would like to go with is 26.7" tall. I don't foresee any major issues with this new size but again I can not guarantee anything at this point. In the 245/40/19 the Michelin Primacy MXM4 and the Pirelli P-Zero Nero AS would be great choices.

Thanks! I was leaning towards the Primacy MXM4 since I had the Primacy MXV4 on my 2006 Lexus GS300 and they were simply the best all round tire. I have Exaltos on my BMW 335xi and the Latitudes on my Mercedes ML. Please let me know when you do get more tire choices in 235/40/19 all season or when you will be testing the new 2013 Lexus GS in your service bay. Otherwise I will go for the 245/40/19 Michelin MXM4 tires in few months and take off the Bridgestone Turanza EL400-02. Not very good reviews so far as I can see for the Turanza EL400-02. They are nice around town and handle well but do get noisy on highways and can get choppy on uneven highways. I had to decrease pressure a bit to make it better. I wonder why Lexus bothered to put such a tire like this on a loaded F-Sport????

Zig,

Is the XL ratings on my Turanza EL400-02 contributing to some of the harsh ride on the highways? Its transmitting road irregularities a little more than other low profile tires I have owned on other cars.

It's more the tire and not the XL rating, a better tire even if it is XL rated will be dramatically better comfort. Take a look at the customer survey results for the tire, number 20 out of 20 is the tire that came on the car.

Thank you for reassuring me that this tire is poor. I looked at the tirerack review few days ago and was appalled at how low this tire ranked and that Lexus would put it on a GS F-Sport. Its a bad combo. I look forward to a much more refined ride and handling with the Michelins.

Zig,

I went ahead and ordered these Michelins Primacy MXM4 tires in size 245/40/19 for my Lexus GS F-Sport and will put your name info in my order today. Let me know when you get it. Thanks again for your comments and feedback. I cannot wait to get the Bridgetones off my car.
