For those with a GS-LS with 19-20" wheels
Does your GS or LS ever rub when you have people in the back seat? Talking about people with 19-20" wheels with very little or no gap (lowered on coilovers). One guy said he never had a problem with rubbing on a GS with 19" but I wanted to gather more info.
I was thinking about the EDFC on my next car to stiffen the back up when people are sitting in it, with a push of a button. Rough stiff ride but would keep it from rubbing...

For 19" wheels with 245/35/19 in front and 275/30/19 in back (common staggered setup), this wheel/tire combination has the same diameter as the stock 17" wheel tire combo. If you doubt me, let me know and I'll show the math. 20" wheels/tire combos however typically have 1" greater diameter because they typically use 245/35/20, 275/30/20 tires. This equates to 1/2" less clearance in the wheel wheel.
Coilover drop is typically the most significant factor in wheel well clearance since the amount of drop is equal to the loss in clearance.
EDFC will NOT make the springs any stiffer. This only changes the dampening (the D in EDFC) of the shock absorber. The shock absorber counteracts the force of the spring rebound from it's compressed state.
In short, unless you plan on slamming your car and driving around with two 450 lb gorillas in the back, don't worry.

The tire series really has nothing to do with the rubbing (if you're talking about fender edge rubbing...)
It's ALL about offset and tire width.
I have 20 x 9.5" +37 out back with a Nitto NT555R at 275/30-20 and I get no rubs with 3x 200# guys in the back...Plus my car sits nearly tucked in the rear with no one in the car...with the 3 guys in the car, it is tucked to the RIM.
With Chris's Weds setup, he is running a 19" x 10" +47 with Bridgstone S-03 at 275/35-40 (the "Fat" setup) and his car sits about 3/8" or so TUCKED and it does not rub the fender edge (I can just bearly squeeze my pinky in there) Honestly, he COULD put a 5mm spacer and push it out to +42 and he should be still ok...
Now if you're talking about the fender lining rubbing on the trends of the tire when you hit a bump or whatnot, on a "Fat" 19" setup or a 20" setup, you're going to get that because the overall diameter of the tire is larger. But after the tire rubs away some of the fender lining, it doesn't do it anymore...you can also take a heatgun and SLIGHTLY reshape the fender lining...my lining no longer rubs...
Oh yeah, BOTH of our cars are lowered on Tein FLEX coilovers...Chris's setup is lower than mine (by 1/4" or so) out back and our fronts are about the same...it's about as low as you'd want to go on our wheel/tire setup...any lower in the front, you won't be able to turn your wheels... You could go lower in the back but then you'd have the reverse rake look...not really attractive unless you drive a six-fo' Impala...
Man, I need to my my wheel manifesto out soon!

Thanks for all the information. It takes me a long time to decide on a car and setup, just trying to get all the issues out in the open, maybe I will make my mind up by spring. Maybe it was the LS I was reading about that had the rubbing issue..
