Default Do I need a new rim?

lower ball joint, I assume, gave way and car is sitting in mechanic shop till Monday.

It scraped the interior of the front left rim, and continued to do so as we drove it onto the tow truck and off.

Has the integrity of the rim/wheel been compromised significantly?

That is a decent scrape! That is a stock rim and you should be able to find a replacement with no problem. Do that and you will be safe.

I think you are ok, but have a tire shop look at it.

I work for a tire shop and I don't think he is OK...

would you chance a weakened wheel on the highway at 70+ mph? how about going round turns putting some real force on it...

Didn't know you work in a tire shop. So yeah, that is why I wrote "I think".

I have driven on wheels with similar damage and never had any issues (other than vibrations). *knock on wood*

I'm getting rid of the set altogther, haven't had a chance to take pics - I'm riding OEM 16's with Blizzaks already, and will look for 17's come springtime, or maybe even another set of 16's.

While I definitely agree that would be safe, unless a buddy does it, chances are it won't be much more money for a used wheel... You could also get some money back for the bad wheel sold as scrap...
