Default Steering Wheel Shake - Intermittent

Bought 97 ES 300 two weeks ago with 102,000 miles and everything very clean and well maintained. Been driving for two weeks highway and city, and today at highway speeds steering wheel was shaking like crazy for a few miles. Pulled over and checked all wheels - no problem. Continued on my drive for another 20 miles and no shaking at all. Any ideas?

Are they after market wheels... could be a defective or missing centering ring?

I think I figured it out or at least have something to check. Its the same shake I get from braking, so I'll check the front brakes and will report back.

Wheels appear to be original.

I'll look into the front end parts, thanks guys. Over the weekend, I had the brakes completely checked out and rotated tires. Today, I'll be doing my regular driving and should see if it pops up again.

Were you going the same speed before and after your stop. tire imbalances usually show themselves during a specified mph range.
