what site is this?

Lots of people like Kyle Harty have 18x8 and they seem to be working fine, only trouble might be when making a sharp turn with the trunk and backseat loaded.

Default will this fit?

17" chrome rims, GIOVANNA Corsica. Mint condition; no wear on tires, one rim has a small nick. Tires are 215/40/R17. Bolt pattern is 5x4.00 in. or 5x100 mm will this fit?

Thumbs down First off, it gives the wrong offset for ES

I don't trust that chart. It groups the ES (FWD) with the RWD SC and LS. Furthermore, it lists the offset for the 15" wheels as 35mm, where I'm certain ES300 stock wheels are 45mm offset. Perhaps those offsets are right for the RWD cars, but I believe the ES must stay between 38-50mm offset.
The Tire Rack sells a lot of 18" wheels for the ES. They know their stuff, and would not sell anything that would risk damaging the car like that. Plenty of guys on CL have 18", and even someone with 19" on a '96 (zutoo). That's the only 19" I've seen on a pre-'02 ES, but 18" and 17" is quite routine.

The ES is a 5 x 114.3 mm bolt pattern I believe, or something very close to that (maybe just 114?), so the wheels you mentioned wouldn't fit.

8" wide wheels will fit, you just have to be very careful about offset. My 18x8's are 40 offset, and 225/40/18 tires. In the rear, the back lip of the wheel is very close to the suspension, and the outside edge of the tire is very close to rubbing on the fender lip, so there's almost no room for error on offset. Any width wheel could rub if the offset is incorrect, and unfortunately lowering the car will probably make it worse rather than help.

In my opinion, try the wheels out before you put down the money.

Here's what I mean: for example-- In Chicago we have places that rent rims, try and find a place that rents rims, get rims that are the same or have the same size and offset as the one's you are looking for and try them out for a week. If they don't rub: great!

That's kinda funny, I'm just picturing all the idiots around here in POS cars thinking their ballers rolling on their rented wheels.

Now if you used it like you described that's a good idea, but I'm sure there are a bunch of people running around with rented 18's on their rusty Cavaliers with stock suspsension.

Around here, it's not people with wheels on POS cars, although there is a little of that. It's more people with a rusty 86 Cavalier with chrome Walmart hubcaps, xenons, neon all over, 6x9 boxes on the rear deck, and a fart-tip exhaust. That's the kind of people I was thinking of. There's a guy I see all the time who put a nasty looking body kit on his Cavalier, he bought the front lip of the kit and put it on, then got the side skirts a month or two later and put them on, then got the rear bumper a while later; driving the car through the whole process. Even when the kit was finished, he was still rolling on the stock wheels for a couple months, he just put a set of wheels on it a week or two ago. The other thing that bugs me is people who put on kits but don't paint them, but I think this guy set a new low. He painted the stock bumpers of his black 240sx white so he could look like one of the idiots who put a kit on without painting it. It's almost sad, sometimes I wish there was something we could do for these types of people.

guys...

i have seen wayyy too many cars like you just described...it makes me wonder why would people need to waste their hard earned $$ like that...and the sad thing is you see more of this in areas where money is needed for food and shelter...instead, many just dump all their pay checks and buy nothing but trash..

It's all good, the more **** people buy the more people with good wheels stand out of the crowd.
