Default wheels question

hey guys, i just bought my sc300 this weekend and i am looking foward to getting some rims for it soon! i was thinking about getting the "O.Z. Opera II", they are 18'' by 8.5'' with a 38mm offset and they cost $299.99 each off of the OZ website. however i am not sure what offset is best for use on the sc300! i have looked around on the forums and i have seen alot of mention of an offset of 50mm, but when i went into my local shop they told me that the ideal offset is 40mm! they also said i can go 5mm up or 5mm down off what they told me. if anyone has any feed back on this subjcet it would really be helpful. also is this a good deal for just the wheels, and i dont have any idea how much good tires for these wheels will cost. but if anyone knows where a package of these can be had it would help!
....................................................thanks. big bad furby

Have you checked out the usual sites for a price on those O.Z.'s ? Tire rack, discount tire direct, etc ? I got a great deal on a set of Competitions, can't remember where I got them, but when I do i'll PM you, I find they make a very well built and durable wheel, I put mine through the torture test and they asked for more. As far as offset and width, SC300T and myself have posted alot of info on this subject, do yourself a favour and do a search, and read up, then you'll be knowledgeable enough to decide for yourself what you're looking for, since different peeps have different needs. By the way, you will have a very hard time finding aftermarket wheels with a +50 offset, but something in the mid 40's would be great.....

Furby;

After you have read the previous on "wheel Offset", you will understand why the shop tells you that +40mm ofset is the way to go, because thats the only thing they can supply!

if you like the oz opera II, that is a great deal...for your sc, +38-+50 is fine..a cl guy from TX has 18x8.5, +36 and they looked great...

go to www.tirerack.com

they have all the prices that rannges from high to reasonable...

my personal fav for that size is the new yokohama AVS ES100, excellent value....+ you get a RC car for free during promo time

Hey thanks guys thats some good info, I will check those sites out! Im thinking I can get the package for a buck or two under $2,000. May be a few months; as I just broke the bank on my new Sc300 purchase. But I guess good things come to those that wait.
