Default Wheel repair

Just bought some used wheels with a little bit of rash and two scrapes on two spokes of one wheel. My question is am I able to get these rashes, knicks, chews, and scratches resurfaced and then rechromed? Has anyone done this? How much does it cost and what kind of shop does it? (ie: metal shop, detailing shop, auto body shop?). Thanks!

hey lex, you can get them re-polished. you bought them chrome? if you did, then it might cost a bit more to re-chrome them. i re-polished mine at a wheel repair shop down here. I'm not sure about anywhere near SAC though.

you can have them take it apart of it's a 2 or 3 piece wheel, which costs a lot, or just have them re-polish it as is for about 45 bucks a wheel + chroming. i have no idea how much chroming costs. i hope this helps.

Default Wheel Repair

Try www.fixrim.com I see you are in Pleasanton, CA. They have a shop in Union City and you can drop the wheels off. I had a polished wheel with curb rash; repair the curb rash + repolish + new clearcoat was around $125. Chroming is extra...I think something like another $80 or $100. Give them a call...they did a good job and they offer lifetime gaurantee.

Cool, I'll check out that shop in Union City. So you're thinking about $280 per wheel? Hmm, maybe I'll just do the one wheel that is thrashed with the scrapes on the spoke. The other three aren't that bad at all.

hey lex400sc, is it one of the fronts that's boogered up? If so, how 'bout you shop around for 1 more chrome TT front that's pristine, and keep the scuffed one for your spare? That way you will have a spare that will fit over TT brakes in front if you do that someday - - but will the wider wheel fit in the spare well? Since the trunk liner is pretty stiff, I bet you could figure out some spacers even if the wheel/tire is a little too high - - just a thought

That's not a bad idea strongsail! I think it'll be tough to find a stray chrome Supra TT wheel though . The cars themselves are hard enough to locate, let alone an owner selling a single wheel. Junk yards will be a very tough find as well .

yeah. talk to the guys at the Union City shop. Last time I checked (about a yr. ago) the wheel repair + chroming was around $225 - $250 per wheel. Don't forget to try ebay for the wheel too (It'll be hard to find, but you never know).
