Looking to replace my 16" Continental with a higher performace, quiet riding, long lasting tires. What size is recommended? Suggestions are welcomed.

Quiet Tires
This is a sore spot with me and this car. I am running 17" on mine and have found poor results with Falken, Bridgestone and Yokohama AVS dB. Out of the bunch, the Bridgestones were the quietest but lousy mileage. Falkens were choppy. Yokos are on now and are ok. Alignment and balance is very critical.
There are several threads regrading tires, you may want to look them up and read other peoples experience. The 16's should not be as hard on tires as the 17's are. If I were to buy again, I would try Michelin Pilots next.
In summary, my opinion is that the problem with this car is that it runs lots of caster and tends to toe out. This sets up a good handling car, but being so heavy, it causes choppy wear on the inside front edges which lead to alot of noise. Under braking, the tires toe-out more and cause the wear. This is apparently is common with luxury sport sedans, and is exasperated by wide tires.
Good luck,

I have Dunlop SP Sport 5000 on my 99 GS400. I did research at tirerack.com before I bought. These are good year-round tires. Much better than the stock Goodyear tires. Not as good as the high performance tires, but I didn't want to spend the money for snow tires and high performance tires. Check out the other threads for high performance tires.
I have 25k on the dunlops and they still look good.

I would check into Toyo Proxes. Not sure which model would fit the 16" specs, or how they are in colder climates, but then neither are a concern for me. They are tremendous tires for the $!!!

I use the SP5000's (17 inch). They work reasonably well as a 4 season tire but do tend to squeel a lot on dry pavement. No replacement for a proper summer tire. I like the Toyo T1-S although the AVS Sports and S-03's are also good.
