Default OZ & Weds -- couple questions

OZ is selling Opera III's, 3 piece wheels, 20 x 8.5 and 9.5 for $2300. Seems like a pretty good deal for new 3 piece 20s. I'm sure someone is thinking, "How much do they weigh?" Well, they're cast so they're 30 and 31 lbs. respectively.

Does anyone have a picture of these on a GS? I've already seen the pics of the Opera IIs in 18s on Mike Kilty's car in old pics. I like the way the Wald Duchatelet II look in 20s (check out the recent image posted by Manaray in the GS photo gallery -- why are there so many jackasses in there? ), and it seems like it'd be pretty close at a cheaper price. Maybe someone can photochop...

-- BTW, those Superleggera forged 3 piece rims will come in 20" by Fall of 2002, according to OZ. Now that is a sweet wheel.

Also, I see deals on Weds Kranze ERM in 20's in japanese magazines all the time these days. Is it possible to see prices within a couple hundred bucks of these deals or is that wishful thinking? I would love to see a photochop of a GS with these also, though I'm sure looking at the original white WIN GS is probably close enough (just wish I could see no chrome ERM 20s on a GS)

mike,

that is good price for 3pc oz in 20s... basically dish rims like that and the walds are very popular in japan, they give you that VIP look...

weds kranze erm 20s- dave from san fran has 19s that he ordered with special color finish for ~$3k i think last year..the prices that you saw are excellent tyre pkg deal from japan..keep in mind though the air freight is very expensive and ther is also that import duty..still, weds wheels are excellent value..

hey will,

Question about offsets -- The OZs are +35 front, +45 rear. I'm always hearing about the "ideal" offset as what, +37, +38 or so for 20 x 8.5/9.5. Though OZ states that these rims fit GS's, will they not be "ideal"? (Let me better state the question: I'm sure they'll fit on a GS as OZ claims, but will they rub after a 2+ inch drop?)

After staring at VIP car mag and other similar ones, I'm starting to really like that VIP look. Maybe I should have bought a Celsior

hey mike,

actually along with the celsior, cima, majestic, our aristos are also considered vips in japan....it really all depends on how you fix up the ride on these good sized sedan..

offsets and look go hand-in-hand, and your personal taste has lot to do with it too. most of the offstes within +35-+45 are "ideal", meaning no rubbing..it comes down to what degree you want the wheel to be "flush" with the fender.

most european wheels offer more limited size choices than jdm brands. on the rubbing issue, i have 18x9 +37, 1.4" drop for the front with no problem. but i will let guys with more knowledge and experience answer your question

It occurred to me yesterday that I was all wrong with the offset post -- so I deleted it. Don't know what I was thinking. The OZ's +45 should fit easily in the rear...

ya'll can just tell me I'm talking outta my *** next time
