How can you tell how wide?
I have a set of 16" BBS rims on my car that the owner before me put on. How can I tell how wide the rim is, without taking off the tire? The reason I ask is that they make 15's up to an 8" wide (biggest I've seen them so far) so I was thinking that my rims were at least that big. I also saw that I could get them made into a custom width (in england), i.e. 10+" wide, so I wanted to know how wide they already were first. They have 225 tires on them now, and I wanted to put 245 on them instead. And also, does anyone know of the process to "stretch" the width out?
Thanks

Keep in mind, wheel dimensions are "bead-seat to bead-seat," and don't take into consideration the outer flange "bead" thickness, typically 1/2" per bead x2= 1.0" wider overall.
This means (for example) a 15x8 wheel is really 9" wide overall, and so-on.
