Default Winter tire's ?

I'm looking for winter tires for my CLK500 the factory tires are 245/40/17 rear and the front are 25/45/17. Can I get away with running 225's on all 4 or will I have issues? What tire brand would you guys recomend and when do you guys put them on, at first snow fall or late fall early november?

You can run 225/45-17's on all 4 corners. Most tire models in this size are approved for your factory 8.5" wide rear wheels. Another size to consider would be size 235/45-17 on all four corners.

For the best snow and ice traction I would go with Blizzak WS60 or Michelin Xice2.

I have Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 high performance snow tires for the winter and they are incredible.
