285/30 on a 19x9.5"??
Anybody run that setup? Does the tire look too big? I want a little extra meat to protect the rim.
Yes...I could get a 10" but then I'd have to mod the fender and I'm not too excited about that.
Thanx in advance.

Tire I'm thinking of is S03.

I'm curious to see why people think the wheels are what rubs on a fender- it's usually the tire!
A 285 tire is roughly 11.2" wide overall. Even if you put it on a 9.0" wide wheel, the tire still 'wants' to be 11.2" wide.
I would highly recommend a 10" wide wheel (a 10" wide wheel is really 11.0" wide edge to edge) with a +45 offset. No promises on not having to roll the fenders, though... for guys that want the widest tire with no mods, stick with 275.

You make a good point...
The problem is that the wheel I want only comes in +41 for 10" and the 9.5". +41 is definitetely too low on the 10".
I wanted to do a 285 because the 275 is a tiny bit smaller in diameter than the 245 in front. I don't want to have a smaller tire in back.
Thanx for the input.

As for protecting the wheel...I was thinking about the curb not the fender.

The 285/30/19 S-03 offers plenty of meat for the protection of a 19x10" rear wheel. Its the tire itself (not the wheel) that forced me to do a fender mod....Had I used a 275, I would never have had rubbing. Or, Ive been told that a "less beefy" 285(maybe another tire manufacturer) might not have rubbed either....Either way a +45 offset versus the +41 offset that I got would not have rubbed to begin with, but you are limited to what the manufacturer offers unless you get a custom made wheel....
I had about 1-2mm's of rub w/+41, and I shaved about 5-6mm.
Also, most manufacturers that I have checked on spec a 19x10" for the GS w/+41 using 275 tire as the optimal set-up...you will find this pretty common. Only an elite few will allow you to choose your offsets.... Tiny

Thanks.
I wouldn't mind modding the fender a little.
The main issue I have with doing it is that the rear is going to look maxed out (this is good) while the front (8.5" and +43) is going to look more tucked under...8.5" +37~38 is maxed out front fitment.
That is why I was thinking 9.5"...better match front to back. I want them to match up with the fender the same.
Any thoughts on that one Tiny?
Late.
Mike...yah, same wheels. As you can see, Tiny is lending his expertise as he has the exact setup.

Soooo many questions.
Another one:
How is the ride on the S03s? I've read some conflicting reviews? How bad is the tramlining?
Also, whered you get them and price? Tirerack seems to have the best pricing. You can pm that one if you don't want to post.
Thanx for all your help.

As far as looking "maxed out", its not that exact a science.... What I mean is, 6mm is not going to make or brake you cosmetically, but is a much larger factor when talking functionality. The difference between +43 and +37 is 6mm, dont forget how small a mm really is. You will NOT see ANY difference, trust me. On my SSR's, I had an 8" +35F and a 9"+45R.....
I always felt like the front stuck out a tad too far. A +37 offset using a 19x8.5"F w/245 tire is just about maxed for function, but cosmetically there are alot of set-ups that will not look any different than one another. My 19x8.5"+43 w/245 tire looks NO different than my 18x8"+35 w/245 tire because the SSR only stuck out 2mm further all things considered.... Once on your car, you will think it sticks out plenty far to match the rear....
Oh yeah, I got the S0-3's from Tire Rack. I think they have about any size available for that tire....
Anyone with additional insight on this, please chime in....

Again, that would be my set-up with the whole wheel pushed inward another 9mm(less than 1/2"). As it stands, I have MORE than 3 inches before I would be near any hardware on the shock side. Personally, I cannot believe that set-up hasnt been tested by any CL members......
Wait a sec, I have a friend with a SupraTT who just put Blitz Z1's on his car. I think the Supra uses high offsets for the rear? If so, I will see if hell let me try a fitting test. Hes running 275 or 285 tires.
For the test to reveal anything, it will need to be at least a 10" wheel w/285 or larger tire and an offset of +46 or higher.
One other thing, the inside area by the shock also has more clearance HEIGHT than the fender lip does, which would be my first concern.
I want someone to try a test using 19x11" wheel +52 offset and a 305 tire. That will move the wheel 23mm's(less than 1") closer to the shock than my set-up and only push it towards the fender 1mm more! The tire will be widening 10mm on each side so it will not really factor in. At that point, if you had sufficient clearance on the shock side, even the fender mod that I did on my car would allow plenty of clearance on the fender side. Sasha, then you could run a 305/25/19!!! hahahahahahaha
I have no clue what else factors into this, Dennis made mention of physics playing a role in the way the car would handle though??? Thats over my head at this point. Tiny

Thats sooo awsome!
i looked it up the Pirelli is the only tire for that size!! kinda limits my options!! But i'll do it anywyas i do not care!
I just hope my wheel comes in an offset that is high enough to clear it!
