Depends on what you are looking for out of your tires.

What tires are you currently driving on? What were your likes and dislikes about them? How many miles are you driving per year? Do you need an all season tire? Budget? What do you really want out of your next set of tires?

Yokohama S-Drive. Likes, they are ok for a DD. I would rank 7 out of 10. Dislike, wears fast and I don't even drive fast or corner hard. I got about at least 10k on the tires already. The thread thickness is 6/32 all the way around. So they are wearing evenly. I do 20k miles of driving a year. I drive at least 50 miles per day mostly highway. It doesn't snow much here, so not sure about all seasons tires. Budget less than $200 per tire. Next set of tires, looking for good handling for wet and dry of course. Also sometimes I feel the urge for corner so I would want a tire that have strong shoulders. A tire that could handle tire wear at least 20k miles a year before changing. I do want comfort too. And would hate if tires are noisy.

I just want to see what you guys are using for a DD. TIA!

Thank you for the additional information. I would suggest looking into an UHP all season tire. I think the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus would be a great option. This model comes with a 45K tread life warrenty and is built using three different rubber compounds for enhanced all season traction. Ride quality with Michelin is always top notch IMO and you will not sacrifice any dry handling by running this model.

I first thought of Michellins. But the price is overboard. They are like 200+ per tire.

You can mail order the Michelin's online for around $180.00 per tire delivered. If you want to go with something a little more economical, take a look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S. This model has a similar tread design to the Pilot Sport A/S Plus but will most likely not last as long. You can mail order this model for around $145.00 a tire.

I like bang for buck tires (brand I trust, longer treadlife, under 150 all-in for a tire (mounted, balanced, etc))

This was my short list
1) Kumho ASX
2) Continental ContiExtremeContact
3) Yoko AVID H4S / V4S

I have Kumho ASXs right now and have no complaints. If they all were the same price, I would probably get contis

If the tires were free I would get Michelin Energy MX4s

Is it true after 50% of thread life on the Proxes 4, the tires start to be inefficient and start to make noise?

I have the Pilot Sport A/S Plus, and Sltwtrking is pretty accurate with his evaluation. I'm going to probably get 40k miles on them. I consider myself a "spirited" driver and my commute is usually 60-80 miles when I drive around the San Francisco Bay Area. Ride comfort and noise is very good. Handling is probably on par with the Yokohamas and on the higher-end of UHP all-season tires. Another option in the UHP All-season category that is getting a lot of good reviews is the Continental ExtremeContact DWS that I might get to replace my Michelins. The only thing is that they are pretty new, so not sure how they will wear out long term; although they have a 50k mile warranty.

I know a couple people using this tire and they are not getting more than 25k on the tires. I'm not sure I would recommend them as a good A/S alternative.

Back on topic... Question on Proxes 4 after 50% of thread life. Are they loud? Do they have soft side walls? Are they comfortable? What is your rating for the tires?
