non DOT approved tires...
can non Dot approved tires be imported into the US or Canada? Will anyone be checking if your driving around with DOT approved tires or not? What happens if you get into an accident? Will insurance cover if its not tire related? What happens if your wheels get stolen? Will they cover for your tires also? Thanks for any info...

Yes, you can get them imported.
No one will check.
In an accident, that may be a problem.
They probably won't check the tires.
If your wheels get stolen, just show your insurance company a receipt for a set of tires (like some DOT Bridgestones or something)...they won't know or care...then get another set of non-DOT tires imported.
Why are you so interested in getting non-DOT approved tires? Gettin' a killer package deal or something?

THANKS manaray.
im getting wheels from gs4will. he can get me tires also so it would save me the hassle of getting it myself up here in canada for very expensive. plus when the wheels are shipped from LA to japan, theres a 20% tax that i have to pay so im just going to go down to the US and swap my rims and send my old wheels home and just drive home with the new wheels. btw these non dot approved tires were the Dunlop Lemans but i just found out that they didnt come in 245 wide so im not going to get them. probably getting Toyo t1's instead.
