Hard to at admit, but I do agree with SK, the shop who mounted the tires should have checked for leaks, they did not. But I guess people just assume, hey, these are used, but new wheels with a new seal, so why would it fail?

4nt, i tried calling them around lunch time, maybe 1 ish? And then the days before that the same time.

aristopra, hahaha, no problem pare, ill call you later

I won't even bother to have them fix the rim or tires, at this point, i dont want the same person to refix the wheels so it can happen again and again and more money will be wasted. Might as well get it done the first time to people who actually know what there doing.

take care

Default Wheels

Wow,

I was just about to buy wheels from these guys. I am in eastern Canada so that would have SUCKED IF I DID. Anyways, thats messed up, I mean if they are going to even offer used wheels, they should make sure they are good as these wheels are very expensive...

Thanks for the post...

I just got the wheel back and looks good from the guy that fixed it. He showed me my other front wheel because I had to get the tire replaced, he said "look"..he was able to move the silicon around the seam. He said, don't bring it back to RB to have them fix it, my friend said last time, to fix it they used liquid nail from home depot to patch it up. ...wow...Oh well. It's a good thing I didn't bring it back to them.

I do not want to be a ***** but I wanted to point something out.
Almost every thread I start gets moved out of the 2nd gen GS forum (where I think they belong)
And this thread about a bad rim dealer gets to stay????
What are the Mods picking on me???

This thread was moved for the right purposes. It deals specifically with wheels and tires.

Anyways, I bought some wheels from RBMotoring a few years back for real cheap; because they were in terrible condition. I was happy with their service though. However, I would not buy a set from them if I were not going to refinish them.

When I got them (peeling chrome):

After glassbead blasting to remove the chrome. The nickel undercoating is still there (very tough to remove). Lip is polished in picture:

Center caps (before):

Center caps (after):

Rivets oxidization (before):

Rivets (after):

After 60 grit stone grinding to remove the nickel undercoating:

Semi-done:

Here are some pictures after reassembly of the final product!

If everyone here expects a tire/wheel shop to check every wheel for leaks every time you mount tires, then start expecting higher installation charges and longer wait times for service... to properly check a tire/wheel for a leak can take as much as 5 minutes, else they aren't being checked thoroughly...

Now, if it was suspected, then the technician should have been notified to check, but to blindly check every single wheel is time consuming and will increase service costs....

i thought all the RB wheels were imperfect and that's why they sold them for so cheap?

If you read through the thread then you would see where they were portrayed to him as in good condition.

I personally paid $2200 shipped then another 800-1000 to have them re-finished.

I'll just stick with buying new wheels. Sounds like a pain in the *** going through all this re-finishing to save a couple hundred bucks, if that.

That refinishing job is very nice!

Sorry to hear about that. With used wheels you always take your chances that there are bends. I have purchased 4 or 5 sets from them and haven't had a problem.

That is your assumption. It is not the shops responsibility to check for leaks after mounting a fresh set of tires unless the customer or the shop suspect a leak.

About RBwheels, they might as well be stealing from everyone's pocket. I would consult with an attorney right away.
