Tire and Rim installation
I just got a shop to remove my winter tires off my 2007 Lexus IS 350 rims and mounted, balanced and installed 4 new Michelin Sport Pilot A/S Plus tires. Here is what they told me:
1. Repair or replace the rims (3 of 4) asap because they were badly bented.
2. They claim these were the worst set of rims they have seen.
3. There is no warranty on the balance of the tires.
Just for additional information:
1. I have taken the car with the winter tires upto 180 km/h recently and it was smooth (no vibration, no drifting, etc)
2. There is no crack on the rims, and the rims don't look bad too me.. just minor stuff.
3. 1 rim was bented about 6 months ago but I got it repaired.
Are they just trying to cover their butt just in case something happen? Is this standard?
I plan to take the car to the track and do up to 220 km/hr in about 1 month. Is it safe?
Any recommendation?

>Did they not show you the rim damage?
>Without seeing the rims, how can anyone tell you if they are safe?
No... and I don't see any..
> What did the tire shop tell you?
They said to replace the rim asap.. I said I would repair.. but they said it cost as much as to replace the rim..
I took the car to about 140 miles/hr (220 km) several times and there was nothing wrong.. no vibration, etc and took turns at 100 miles/hr (160km) without any problem with the new tires.
