Question about three piece rims - re-powdercoating
I figure I'll ask and maybe the community can provide an answer.
I have three piece wheels that I want to get the face or the center of the rim powdercoated satin black like the IS-F oem rims. Not sure if this is safe or not but I was thinking of removing the face from the inner and outer barrel without dismounting the tire from the rim first. I really do not want to break the original silicone seal and risk getting the lip of the outer barrel damaged during dismount/remounting (I always get little nicks or hairline scratches caused by the mounting arms).
I'll make sure I release all the air from the tire first so its just a tire loosely fitted over the barrel. I will rebalance the rim/tire once I put the center back together.
Can anyone chime in?
