Question Winter Tires for IS 300 Sportcross

I recently purchased a 2005 Lexus IS 300 Sportcross, fully loaded except the navi. Has both the LSD and VSC. I live in Lakewood WA and this past winter was pretty bad with snow and ice. I am looking around for a good set of winter tires to swap them on when that time comes. I need some ideas on what to get and if I should go with all the same tire size at 225/50/17 or 225/50/16...I don't know, i' am clueless on this. Thanks for the help!

Oh and i forgot to mention that my current tire size is 215/45/17 front and rear 225/45/17..

For winter go with the same size on all corners.
I highly suggest the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 if it comes in your size. Best thing I bought for my GS this past winter and we got lots of snow. Great on dry cold pavement too.

Thanks Steviej for the input. I will look into those.....I wonder if it will make a big difference if I just got a really good set of all season as opposed to winter tires. Then again, my wheels are rear-wheel drive.....

Cheers

If you were AWD I would say probably.
Since you are RWD I would say go with the performance winter tires and be safe all round.
