Question 245-35-20 on a 20x7.5" - Is it safe?

Hello,

I am looking to get tires for a non-staggered set of 20x7.5" wheels for my 2GS. I was researching and have seen many people use 245-35-20 tires on the 2GS without problems.... the problem is that they are mounted on 8-10" wheels and i plan to mount it on a 7.5" wheel.

Would it be unsafe if i mount 245-35-20 tires on a 20x7.5" wheel?

Thank you...

Probably, although Im no wheel expert but from what Ive seen you shouldnt try to fit something if you have a better alternative, such as 225 or 235....Im sure someone else will chime in and have more to say...

20x7.5 is normally a FWD wheel, and isn't really made for heavy RWD sedans which is why you generally see 20s on the GS/IS/LS starting at 8" wide.

What if the 20x7.5 is for a AWD Venza?

Looking to put Venza 20x7.5 on my 2GS.

Such a shame they made this OEM wheel in 20x7.5 and not 20x8. weird.

ehh, you could probably get away with running a 225/35-20 safely as long as the tires you buy are XL rated (for the load)
