BMW Rim compatibility question
hello everyone,
I have a quick question for anyone familiar with BMW rims. I am looking to replace my wifes IS250 with a 2007 335I this spring and will need winter tires/rims. My question is my father has a set of spare rims(17") if I recall from a 2002 330CI convertible, will these fit on the 2007? I dont know off hand if the bolt pattern changed from the last gen to the current gen model.
Thanks for your help!
Brandon

I think the bolt pattern is still the same 5X120. However, I'm not sure if they are the same width, and how they will look on new 335. it's like you take the wheels from 328 today and put them on 335 - they will fit, but look weird.

Bolt pattern and hub bore is the same but offset is different between the E46 and E9x.

So, as just winter rims, will they be ok or lookcompletely odd? By offset, how much are we talking? Living up here in WI you see many nice cars with goofy winter tires/rims for a few months out of the year, nothing unusual for us
Thanks guys,
B

It will look odd. Check out realoem.com for exact specs on each car wheel.
nvm, i just checked for you, the offset for the 8x17 rim on the e46 is 47 and the offset on the 8x17 rim on the e93 is 34. That is a big difference.

I will check into the brake size to make sure there is no issue. As for the looks due to the different offset, can you guys give me a visual to help me out?
Sorry for all the questions,
Thanks!

just stumbled on this thread, going from +47 to +34 would mean. your wheels stick 13mm further out (away from the middle). I dont see why there should be any problems, as long as they go on and dont rub ur fender.
just try them out. if anything it looks better if the wheels are further out. as long as it doesn't look like ur a hovercraft.
worst comes to worst, sell ur dad's extra wheels and buy a set of used something with a better offset and ur good.

Druha,
Thanks, that helps alot. So they stick out about a 1/2 inch, no big deal most likely.
As soon as I narrow down the 335I that my wife wants, I will see how the rims fit.
Thanks,
Brandon
