I keep reading through this thread and I couldn't decide if I wanted to post. It seems like about once a month this comes up. I think it just boils down to the person. I think most of the people that buy quality wheels usually buy quality everything, or at least try to whenever possible. Notice that I didn't say expensive, but quality. Some of us have learned that a little research will get you a long way. I didn't know **** about wheels before I came to CL but now that I KNOW I couldn't put ****ty wheels on my car. It's not even a matter of "you have a $$$$$ car, so $$$$$ wheels shouldn't be a big deal". I own an older Lexus but I still know what quality wheels are and that's what I'll put on my car. I started shopping for wheels 1 year ago and I still don't have them. It's not that I don't have the money, it's the fact that I wanted to get a good deal on good wheels. Patience. Thanks to some very knowledgeable people around here I've learned quite a bit about this particular subject (and no, I don't claim to be a wheel expert ) and if someone is shopping for wheels and they ask, then the same knowledgeable people should tell them straight. If they still buy ****ty knock-offs and end up paying too much for them anyways then fine, but don't blame the people that tried to educate them.

I guess I feel the same way as some of the others. It's your car, do what the ***** you want. If you're happy with your choices then fine. That's the only person that REALLY counts. Now if you come around here saying brand XXX is the nicest thing since the push-up bra then expect some criticism. It's easy to justify your taste when the masses approve. If you can impress the elitist bastards, well, then that's saying something.

Well, that was quite the rant. Gotta go, the Simpson's are on!!

amlin423- Well at least you did the system right! You wouldn't go down to the swap meet and pickup some Pyle drivers that look like sound stream SPL170's would you? If you’re going to do it, do it right and don't buy fake crap! I saw an is300 rolling around here with profile amps, trunk shakin (NO DYNAMAT) I took a couple 2-3rds with my system at a local event and car audio is an ART(older car, not my Lexus). Whether it is audio, wheels or high pro engine mods, if you have the $$ to roll a Lexus then have some integrity to do it right. And people are right in this thread, if you want to jack up your car so be it, I am just tired of listening to all the people complain about doing the right thing.

Yes, do whatever you want, just don't post "What do you think of my ride?" and expect everyone to give you props when you have a bunch of wacked/fake crap on your car...but hey, if YOU *THINK* it looks good...

Im not going to be like everyone else and agree with what you guys are saying. What the !#*k is a "low end" Lexus owner". I didnt know CL was for snobbs and haters. How bout I shoot Mr. Big crib my address and you can mail me some rims of my choice! Or better yet you fly out here and hand them to me. You guys have a lot of nerve. What I eat dont make you *****! I do believe in quality but my beliefs and my pockets are not the same. Tell me where can you park a Lex(in Philly) with 5k rims and not have your car on bricks or gone! I feel if your going to tell me how large you live well you can afford to buy my mods for me. I did not see one person post where to get rims for a good price. Oh...you can get this...or that...but where? If you are really large buy my mods for my car! Sound like a bunch of hi-post chickens. Glad Im not on your level.

I think I'm with SandRock on this one (though not quite as scalding). Dropping 5k for rims seems almost ridiculous - especially in St. Louis where nice mods get ripped off. Spend a grand on wheels and use the rest of the money to make sure you're car runs optimally...

I have yet to see anyone post where to get rims at good prices. call me cheap, but I got more respect for someone who can find a lot for a little rather than spend a ton of $ to get the same thing...

hey, relax. No one is saying that unless you drop 5k on wheels you're gonna get criticized or anything. All Manaray is saying is that spend the money wisely on something that's worth it. If I buy 18 inch SSR wheels for 1500 and some dude buys some 20 inch cast wheels that's a knock-off design for 6000, who's the smart guy?

Hey, I think we're missing the point here..... I think we all bought a GS because of it's STYLE, POWER, and most of all RELIABILITY. If we were not in love with our cars then we wouldn't be on this board. What path each takes to hype up their ride is different??
I am glad to see people upgrading anything on their car because it shows creativity. I may not like their creativeness but if it makes them happy then I am a supporter of that.
Personally, I have had a show car (94 supra TT 6-speed) with $5k chameleon paint, $4.3k Alstadt I 19x9 19x10, $3k stereo system, and an extra $8k in other Mods. And what did that get me: trophies at car shows, head turns, and lots of harassment from Hawaii 5 0.
Was it worth it???? For me, I did it for myself and no one else. It was a chapter that had to end for other reasons. Now I bought Binno wheels for my GS4 because I dropped my car and it looked stupid with stock 16s. Maybe by sometime soon GS4WILL will help me get the rims I really want (20in Work Euroline LS). But for now, I am happy with my cheap rims.

SandRock- My original post may have mentioned more expensive wheels. The real issue is the people buying FAKE wheels and knockoffs then defending them like they got a good deal and they are good quality. Others and I have said in this forum you can spend a lot LESS (what $2000-3000 or less?) and get quality wheels, that are not knockoffs. Why spend $1800 for knockoffs when you can get the real deal for $2600? If you own a Lexus, you should have the extra $800 to buy real wheels. And if you don’t have the $800, well hey WAIT 2 more months and put some quality wheels on your car. I guess I don’t see the point in having a $35k-55k car if you’re going to complain about spending an extra $800. I am not saying all Lexus owners are LOADED. But you should be comfortable enough to spend $2600 on QUALITY wheels, rather then $1800 on junk.

We are snobs and haters? Sorry we have some integrity and don’t want to ride down the street with same junk wheels that an old tricked out Monte Carlo has. I don’t know about the others but I wasn’t born with a trust fund. When I was working my way up, I drove foreign cars, but it sure in the hell wasn’t a Lexus. I bought my first Lexus when I could afford it. And if I didn’t have money to put quality wheels on it, I would leave it stock and save up until I could.

“If you are really large buy my mods for my car! Sound like a bunch of hi-post chickens. Glad Im not on your level”

Sounds like you want people to hand you everything. So I guess I know why you’re on a lower level.

SandRock - (oh boy, we got a LIVE ONE!) Whoa there boy, relax...ah, the typical COMMON MISTAKE...thinking that I'm talking smack about being POOR. I'm talking about doing ***** the RIGHT WAY. Not the ghetto fabulous way. Plain and simple.

I never said you had buy $5000 wheels. What I mean by "low enders" are people that buy some 350K mile 12 year old Lexus for $5000 and then want to be "big pimpin" and put some 20's on there, of course, they don't have to budget to get some decent 20's (otherwise, they'd probably buy a better condition car) and cry about prices. If you're buying LUXURY ITEMS (MEANING THEY ARE NOT NECESSARY IN YOUR LIFE), DON'T ***** ABOUT THE COST. LUXURY ITEMS ARE JUST THAT, A LUXURY. YOU BUY LUXURY WHEN YOU CAN AFFORD IT. NOT WHEN YOU HAVE TO STRUGGLE.

Why is this so ****ING HARD to understand?

What I'm saying is LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS. This doesn't mean you HAVE to be rich...but if you're not ballin' DON'T TRY TO ACT LIKE YOU ARE. Fakers that wear Fake Rolexes, Fake Gold, front beaten rides with fake wheels and act like their some big rap stars flossin' like their *****tin' Benjamins out of their asses are ones I'm ripping on.

I don't come from some rich family or background...I come from a very poor single parent family and grew up in the ghettos of East and South Central Los Angeles...I rode the BUS as a kid because my Mom couldn't afford a car until I was a little older...I was so poor I had to buy a motorcycle (and a cheap one! $750) to get around before I could buy a car (didn't get a car MY OWN car until I was over 18) SO SAVE YOUR PREACHING...

Now if you can't have a decent set of wheels in Philly w/o them getting jacked, why not just leave your car stock? If I lived in "not car friendly" area like New York or Philly, you know what? I'd rock some decent beater (like a Corolla or something) and not give a damn about it...or just a stock Lexus ES300 or something...why even bother fixing it up? Also, you might want to look up FULL COVERAGE AUTO INSURANCE at www.google.com

As for getting good rims for cheap, I always give references to people or places you can get wheels from at a good price. There is no ONE SOURCE for good wheels...it depends on the wheel...but don't expect someone to GIVE you a set a wheel...what are you, on "wheel welfare" or something?

And even if I won the recent 185 Million dollar Lotto, why the hell would I buy YOU anything? To prove that I'm rich? Sorry bud, I don't need to buy YOU ***** to prove that I'm rich...like I said, some people GET IT and some DON'T.

Now take some Vicodin and relax...

shroffkr: I ALWAYS say paying retail SUCKS. Having worked in a industry where I see the "behind the scenes" pricing, I know what the markup rates for a lot of things are. Being a smart shopper the ONLY WAY TO BE. But buy a FAKE instead of the real thing is NOT bing a smart shopper. Getting a good deal on a QUALITY items is the way to go. Again, if you live in an area where mods are jacked on a regular basis, why even bother modding? I would just leave my car stock and put the money towards maintenance...

Like I said above, no one is in business to give you wheels for below their cost. This isn't some skidrow soup house...we're dealing with EXPENSIVE LUXURY CARS...if the cost is too high, why not get a car that's more in your price range? If the cost is too high, why bother modding? (especially with the theft rate in your area)...

Besides, there are plenty of good vendors on here that give great prices. Steve Ganz (SupraTRD), William (GS4Will), Wheel Kinetics, etc...why don't you PM or call them and GET PRICES. Do you expect everyone else to do the research for you and give a list? My hourly rates are VERY expensive, I can assure you.

Hudini - Now instead of doing all that, you could have just WAITED until you had enough to do wheels/tires and lowering...you would have saved some money. What's wrong with WAITING and doing it right the first time?

Instead you paid to get it lowered (labor), then that "forced you" to get some cheap 20's...which you now have to resell at a loss most likely. It wouldn't have killed you to WAIT and buy some good 20's and do the install/lowering all the same time. It would have cost you less in labor, you would have saved time, and you wouldn't be stuck with a set of cheap 20's...

Now if you did all the work yourself and you have a buyer for Binnos for the same price you paid for it or more (??), then good for you, but we all know this is usually not the case...

For the genral public- Buying cheap wheels while saying that you'll save up for some "good wheels" later is a pure act of desperation. Desperate to have wheels on your car to get attention. To get people to pay attention to you. "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" Seriously, think about that for a second...does it make you feel more secure about yourself knowing that people jock your ride? (or at least you *THINK* they jock...remember, people LOOK at discustingly ugly ***** and wonder "WTF?" also... try www.beaterz.com ) Just a little something to think about...

Come out to the Midwest manaray, highly entertaining. 89' escorts with offsets so fat, it will blow your mind.
