What polish/wax for Work wheels?
hey guys,
i know this may be a simple question ,but when searching i just seem to be getting the wrong type of threads (both here and on Google).
I want to give my Work Wheels a clean and polish/wax tomorrow. There's a car show on Sunday so i want them nice and shiny. Also looking at the fronts in particular today, they seem to have little marks all over the lips, i guess from sand and dirt hitting them but that's life with a DD on 19s, but i would still like to polish them right up so you wont even see those marks anyway
So, sure i would love some "Wheel Wax" product but i dont know anywhere to get it here in Perth, Australia. I bought Meguire's Hot Rims Wheel Wax to polish my chrome trims, but it says not to use on Anodized or Clear Coated rims, so that's no good to me for my Works as i believe they're anodized lips.
If someone could point me in the right direction for a wax or polish, or even just a type of product to look for, that wont damage my Work rims that would be great!
cheers

i dunno about waxing wheels..ive heard that u SHOULDNT..just soap and water to clean..anything else can ruin the clear coat on the lips or decrease the longevity of the wheels shine..i havent waxed my wheels or anything..jus soap and water..rather not risk damaging anything..especially on an expensive wheel

thanks for the reply. i think there are some Waxes such as Wheel Wax that are okay since theyre basically just a polymer wax with no abrasives. Lots of waxes seem to have abrasive content that will damage the clear coat or anodizing but specialised ones dont. Thats why i was worried and didnt know what to use!
Having read a topic on VSC and also messaged a detailer guy on that forum, i think i should be right to use my Meguires Non Acid wheel cleaner to wash them and then just use some of the polish i use on my paintwork on them (AutoGlym). I'll probably give both products a test on the inside of the barrel first though just in case!

Waxes do NOT contain any abrasives. Waxes are for protection and looks only. Polishes, on the other hand, contain abrasives and can remove the clear coat if not careful.
So to answer your question, you can use any type of wax to give it a higher gloss and it will not damage your wheels. I normally recommend maintaining your rims the same way you maintain your paint.
Good luck at the car show!

some waxes do contain abrasives but i dont really see any harm in waxing wheels....i use Meguires Non Acid wheel cleaner which is a top product.
I did use Peanut butter on my old wheels which worked out really well haha. But i don't know about putting it on aluminium wheels....
