Need Advice On Tires
First its good to be back at this forum. I have no idea where it went but I'm glad I found it even thugh I had to re-register.
I have a '98 GS300 and I will probably be getting a new set of tires. What I would like to know is are there certain brands that may make the GS more comfortble or handle better (either/or) than the factory tires? I know this to be very true for my other car and in fcat, the factory tires for the Vette are POS's. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, I have one other question. Has anyone test driven the 2002 ES? I'm curious as to how it compares (Handling and cornering) to the '98 GS? Intuition tells me that although they changed the ES, it doesn't compare to the older ('98) GS.

on the gs, 90% came with pos brigestones...so basically 80% of top name brands are much better....cheaper too assuming you have the 16s, consider these:
yoko avsdb
bridgestone re730
dunlop sp5000
toyo t1-s
take a look at www.tirerack.com for tons of user feedback
the ES is wayyy too soft of a ride, no sports sedan factor at all

toyo t1-s

actually the top of line yokos avs sport are quite expensive as well....the michellins acrosss the product line are simply more $$$...they are good tyres in general, but one certainly does not need to pay that kind of $$$ for tyres..btw, i think michellins soend much more $$ in ads, and some one has to pay for it...

Nitto's stink. Not smooth, not quiet, not good.
While the cost on some high end tires is inflated generally you get what you pay for.

I switched to Toyo T1-S's. Nice tire, but bear in mind it's a DIRECTIONAL tread, and a high performance tire. If you don't drive/corner aggressively, there's no need to get this kind of tire.
Dunlop SP5000 I hear is smooth and quiet.
Perhaps Toyo's next less aggressive one, (FZ4?).
Michelins are always good, but expensive.
