I need tires for my '99 LS400 - the current Michelin Energy whatevers are about done - more dryrot than anything else. I'm in the Chicago area so I need a decent all weather tire.

The Michelin Primacys seem the wise choice but these General Altimax HPs seem like a much cheaper alternative.

In the comments there are a couple of LS owners - one with some actual miles on the tires and the feedback seems positive.

The Primacys did come out first in the test that Tire Rack performed.. but there are more submitted surveys for the Altimax tires so those results can't be that off.

I do know to pretty much ignore owner reviews with under 1000 miles driven... pretty much any new tire is going to seem "wonderful" when compared with a worn out old tire.

Any comments would be great - and saving about $185 would be even better

Nice - looking forward to hearing how they work for you. Although the survey results say they're pretty quiet, I'd be interested to see how they work for you.

got them mounted today, first impressions? wow they are quiet!! so far no rain or anything but thurs its suppose to rain so ill give a rating on that later.

That's good to hear... what tires were previously mounted on the car for comparison sake.

I'd really be interested in hearing more details about the tires - I'm going to be ordering this week most likely.
