Default what is acceptable tire wear

This question has probably been asked before

I measured 5 millimeter tread thickness using the caliber.

I drive over 200 km/ h for 700 km round trip every week end, in 35 deg c.

I already had 30k km in my ls460L

With my poor driving habits, I find it amazing to have 30k Km and still have 5 millimeters (2mm to go). If it is not for the tire noise, I think the original Dunlop tires are very good.

Part of me says, don't be cheap, change the damn tires before you get killed, but the other part says why would you through tires with 5 millimeters left in them (2 mm to go)

The question
Is it time to replace the tires,or I can proceed till 3 mm

I am going to do whatever you recommend here

Thanks

Tires are considered worn at 2/32 and there is usually a wear bar in between the treads to show this. Keep in mind the wet traction is very poor at this tread depth and we recommend replacing at 4/32. There are 25.4 mm per inch.

Yes, and if you don't drive aggresive, you willl have longer life in the tire. WHen its time to replace, if you can, try some top of the line tires, you would be amazed at the difference a really good tire makes!!
