Default Black Wheel Trend

I've noticed this trend becoming very popular with the tuning crowd. Black face with chrome or polished lip can look very good with a black or dark color car. I've seen others that are all black and at first glance they look like some old european car with 5 years worth of brake dust on them. Am I just too old school to get with this new trend? Discuss.

I don't believe it's really a new trend; I think the black faced wheel trend is 3 or 4 years old now. I like the look in some cases, but elected at the time to not do it because I felt it was a trend that would pass.

Now I'm very glad I did because I don't care nearly as much for it now.

Well, the black face with polished or chrome lip has been around for a while. The new trend I've noticed is matte black face with black polished lip. Or black chrome face with black polished lip.

yeah like dave said it's been around for years and i'm not too fond of it... never really liked it at all actually... you can barely see it during the day and you sure hell can't see it at night... might as well ride on hubs. there's really no difference..

only time you could REALLY tell is when the wheels not in motion and your standing still a foot away from the wheels. it's even hard to see in pictures when people post them online...

not worth it IMO

Black face was a trend that is still hot, but what I think is hot style now is Machined Face with Black. Check me out!

Not washing your wheels for six months and having them look black from the brake dust doesn't count Brandon.

Hahaha good one Dave! I need someone to host my car pics so I can actually show you guys my sweet whips, instead of just posting the wheel pics from our site.

Here's the recent trend I've noticed. Or maybe just unique styles? I have seen it on quite a few cars of all colors lately though.

I guess I'm really oldschool and never liked black wheels. IMO, black hide the design and the detail of any wheel. When I look at a car with expensive black face or black wheels on, I think to myself, it's such a waste to not see the design of a wheel.
