Sumitomo HTR IIIs on IS350

Just got these tires installed, coming from Potenza RE050 which are OEM on the IS. Immediately these are a lot quieter and smoother than the OEMs. Most OEM tires arent very good in the first place. I read the comparison test tirerack did with the sumis and they beat out the Pole Positions which I was considering before hand. Sumis were significantly less expensive too. I havent pushed the tires yet, theres no real place I can do that around here. But on a noise/comfort standpoint I am impressed. The ASL on the audio system on my old tires had to go about 4-5 bars when I was on the highway, meaning theres a lot of noise needing to be countered. Now it's only around 3 bars so there is a reduction in noise. When doing over road imperfections it doesnt feel as crunchy as it did on the old tires. It hasnt rained good here in a while so I havent tested wet traction.
From Tirerack it was around $675 shipped with road hazard. I originally considered F1 GS-D3s and Pole Positions but those cost upwards of $950 shipped with road hazard.

I'm sorry, but the general statement that OE are not good is just simply not true at all... Had your oe bridgestones been truly taken care of - alignment kept in check and proper rotation/balance been kept, they would have never gotten noisy...
OE tires on a ferrari enzo are bridgestone re050's... OE tires on the GTR are Bridgestones similar to the 050's... aside from the goodyear integrity's that are stock on the RX's, I can't think of a really bad OE tire...
I have driven many tires on many different cars, and on a performance basis, there are a few clear winners - bridgestone re050, michelin pilot sport, bfg kd/kdw... Its hard to beat those three in terms of performance... And new, with the exception of the bfg's, they are very quiet as well... How they wear after that is entirely up to how well youu maintain your car...
