Default General Exclaim UHP, back ordered?

I'm thinking of getting these tires for my 19s, 245/35-19 and 275/30-19...
But it says 275/30-19 was back ordered, anybody know when would these tires be available?

Also, are these tires any good actually? I've heard the ratings are just the tire company bumping it?

I'm not into much of driving hard everyday, just something I can trust in the summer and have good tread.

definitely not my first, or even 10th choice if you care about performance... I bought a set for my car, and sold them at a decent loss, because they sucked performance wise...

Yes. I agree. I have these tires right now on my stock wheels. They do not hook up at all, but the tread wear has been even and lasting pretty long also. No defects of any sort.

Good tire if you just want something cheap that will last a long time. Canadian Tire carries them so that should tell you they aren't exactly a high end brand.

ic... well, how bad are they comparing to other tires... like Proxes4? I don't really need performance... I'm not really needing it to hook up, but enough for 2800 stall PI TC to not spin/much would be good enough...

What should be my other choices? these will only be for summer and I'll drive quite a bit in summer as I'll be going to and from Winnipeg and Vancouver and maybe trip to Cali...

Here's the deal... why are you spending lots of money modding the car, when the one single, simplest mod will improve your performance as much or more than most other more expensive mods... The Generals do not hook at all...

If I want performance, I would've been driving the Eclipse, even in that, I'm very happy with Avon M550. But this is a cruiser, and in Tire Rack, I've choose basically all the Ultra High Performance Summer Tires that have the sizes of 245/35-19 and 275/30-19, of all, the General came out seemingly the best out of all... Tread rating, weight, price, etc... What are my other choices?

Another important aspect on why I don't choose a tire that's any higher is my skills aren't up to par, if I'm not going to be able to use it as it's designed, why do I buy it? Just like if you buy a super car, but you only drive 60 everywhere you go, why do it?

BTW, the only performance mod will be PI TC for quite some time... maybe a new filter and spark plugs, but that's about it...

Lets be honest, the only thing out of those three that really matters to you is price... We've already discussed, in another thread, that tire weight means little, when performance is increased as a result of a heavier tire...

Tread rating, you simply cannot compare between manufacturers, as they do not use the same standards... Though many people still try to... So, with that in mind, the only other qualifying thing you have is price...

in your size, there are many options superior to the Generals...

Bridgestone RE050
Dunlop Sp Sport Maxx
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
Bridgestone RE760
Yokohama Advan Sport
Fuzion ZRI
Yokohama ES100
Kumho SPT
Bridgestone RE960
Pirelli Pzero
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

All of those are better performers than the Exclaim UHP... First hand experience here... On the cheap side, the Fuzion is a good deal... SPT's are a good cheap tire too, still better than the Exclaims... In the middle range, the new RE760 is a good deal, and looks like it has a rebate right now too... On the high side of things, the Pilot Sport PS2 and the RE050 are the way to go... the RE960 A/S is great if you want a smooth, quiet ride, long treadwear, and some all season traction...

ummm... 760 is temping...

SPT, my friend had it on his GTR, but it seems like his alignment's a bit off, but the tires are gone about a year....

Dono about Fuzions....

How about Direzzas?

Don't need the 960AS as I've already got the Blizzarks.

I don't mind the Generals as long as you understand they are not a max performance tire and you are buying with the right set of expectations.

I would recommend the Avon M5XX series over the General UHP. They handle real good and I would say on par with the mid level main stream manufactures. Got them on my GS and SC. No problem and will continue to buy them.

i just bought brand new general exclaim (2) 265/30/19 + (2) 235/35/19 for $300....it's good tires, decent...can't beat the price, but yeah....not for max performance. I only drive it to work on daily basis. it's pretty quite so far...

i love my general exclaim UHP

decent traction and all, but they're on my LS with a mild stretch (rear only) so ive never really tried going all out on them, the car does weigh 2 tons after all
