need advice on tires for my 08 GS350
Hi all, I carelessly damaged the sidewalls on the front driver-side tire. You can read the details in this post:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=340960
I am now shopping for new set of A/S tires, since I don't like the stock Yoko because of road noise and ride comfort.
From the sticky on the tire subforum, these two sets caught my eyes:
Bridgestone RE960 PP
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
Which one would you recommend?
Here is my expectations on the new tire:
less road noise than the stock Yoko
better ride comfort than the stock Yoko
decent performance in rain (doesn't rain often in California, but still good to have)
I am not racing with the car, so any extra performance is just a bonus to me,
Thanks in advance.

Lead Lap
I've done this twice to 2 different tires on my GS. Fortunately I had purchased the tire hazard warranty which paid for itself after the second incident.
As for replacement tire - Cut-Throat put some Michelin MVX Energys on his GS and has been really happy with it. Although I read somewhere that Michelin have discontinued them and replaced it with the Michelin Primacy now.

the 08's come with Primacy HP's to give a better ride compared to the yoko's. They list for $355 a piece on Tirerack. Found a good deal on Ebay:

Pole Position
Take a look at the Goodyear Eagle Response Edge. They are an all season tire that has great performance characteristics, both wet and dry. Not to mention they are very quite. I have about 8k on mine since they replaced the Yoko's and I am extremely happy.

I had the dealer swap out run-flats with the Michelin PS A/S tires and I've been very happy with them in all respects, but I can't compare them to other tires that might be just as good or better. I've never driven the car with any other tire.

+1 for the Michelin PS AS.... over 23K on mine and love them.... still have a fair amount of tread left.... estimate nearly 30K before I replace them later this summer.... a new set of 4 is at least $1350 with all the mounting/tax/road hazard/bla bla according to one local tire chain I was at today (getting a nail hole fixed on some PS/2's on the wife's SLK, thought I'd do some price checking for my GS's new shoes while I was there).

Thanks for all the advice guys.
Here is what I saw so far:
Primacy HP
Good Year Eagle F1 +2
Goodyear Eagle Response Edge
Michelin PS A/S +3
I would definitely go for the Michelin PS A/S after my Yoko tires run its course.
After a day of rest, I am now leaning towards of getting another Yoko (just to replace the damaged one) instead of getting a set of 4 new tires because it would be a waste to through the other 3 Yoko away after just 2K miles.
Anyway, thanks again for the advice. You guys are very helpful,
-Andy

I just replaced my Dunlops with the Goodyear Eagle Response Edge as recommended by MADDAWG. Price was $154 ea + 50k mi warranty. I found most of the others (michelin bridgestone etc) didn't come with a mileage warranty so you can end up replacing tires once a year. The goodyears are quiet and very responsive, great taking turns (very stiff sidewall). So far I've clocked about 600 miles with them on surface streets & hwy and they have performed great.
That's my experience

The GY Response Edge uses kevlar belts instead of the normal steel belts. This results in a lighter tire, altho not sure how puncture resistant the kevlar belts are in actual use. I also imagine that the sidewalls are not as firm due to the Kevlar, but have no real hands on experience with these tires...
