Default New Tire Help

I currently own an IS350 with the stock Dunlop Sport Maxx. Need a new set of tires since they are pretty much bald. I noticed that they are branded with a speed rating: Y. Would it be ok if I ended up getting speed rating W? Because I was looking at a few tire choices such as Yokohama AVID W4S, Sumitoro HTR III, Kuhmo Esta SPT, Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S, what do you guys think? Certain tire I should choose, any other recommendations? Thanks in advance for the input.

The W rating is fine as long as you drive under 168 mph =]

Mesca is right about the speed rating... there wont be much difference otherwise since Y and W are so close together.

I use the Kumho SPT's on my sc400 and they handle beautifully.

Although you should never choose a lesser speed rating than what is factory equipped, I agree here that W would be an acceptable substitute as there is little to no performance difference between the two... now, downgrading to V, H or lower, would be a no-no...

You might want to consider GY Eagle FI A/S tires. They provide good all weather handling, good performance, have a treadware of 420, and are very reasonable priced $150.00 front, $204.00 rear.
