Bridgestone vs Falken A/S for So Cal rain
so i'm in the market for new tires (235/45-17) for my stocks. I know Michelin A/S and Bridgestone 960's are prob best, but really expensive. i'm looking for an avg to above avg, not best, A/S tire for the rainy season here in so cal. trying to keep price for (2) about USD250.
i'd like to know if anyone has experience/comments on the following supposedly new tires. And also, if have any other suggestions on moderately priced good A/S tires. (i've decided against any asian brand tires).
-Bridgestone G009
-Falken 912
Thanks for your help guys

woot
Bridgestone has been getting more expensive lately. I'm guessing it has something to do with spending a fortune on sponsoring the Super Bowl.
Consumer Reports just rated the Falken ZE-912 as their #1 performance tire. Do I agree with them? No. Are they good tires? Yes. I can tell you I've been selling the hell out of them since CR put out the good word and I haven't had any complaints yet. If price is a major issue, its a good choice.

thx for your 2 cents. you work for a tire shop and they've been selling that well?
just curious, do your 452s wear fast?

i think the 452 tires are high performance (it's listed under luxury / vip), but my point is for wet traction it's still pretty good. seriously, of all the a/s tires i have had, the michelin pilot sport a/s is the best, others are really just so-so imho.
if you are looking for performance, personally i would look at high performance tires and traction in rain. to me a/s tires a lot of time are trying to find balance among all criteria, making them not really good in any of them.
452 wear is pretty good from what i rear. i have only had them for months so it's too early to tell

Just a little point of information here - 98% of the time, dry/wet tires outperform true all season tires in the wet...
Some things they do to make a tire have all-season/all-weather capabilities are actually detrimental to their wet handling performance... Now, there are exceptions to every rule, but you may be better off with dry/wet tire...
For instance, in the dry and wet, BFGoodrich KDW's outhandle the KDWS's, but the KDWS (now replaced by the G-Force Super Sport A/S) has some snow abilities, whereas the KDW has ~none~
