Default Will these fit????

n00b to the "modding" world, if you consider swapping rims a mod.....

Considering a purchase of a set of '00 GS400 16" rims for my '94 ES300 which has the factory chrome 15" on it now.

I'm seeing on tirerack.com that:

'00 GS400 - 225/55-16
'94 ES300 - 205/65-15

This may be trivial for those with experience, but will these fit?? I found a size calculator that shows my speedo will be off a bit, but I'm more concerned that they'll actually fit and not be sticking out or rubbing...

Any all help is appreciated.

The offsets on those stock wheels are so high that you'll have no problems. Now that I think of it, I've seen an older ES with those GS wheels in my friend's neighborhood so I'm pretty sure it'll fit no problem.

Simply put in my own words.... offsets are the measurements to determine how far the wheels will stick out. The lower the number, the more aggressive it is. The higher the number, the more conservative. Most if not all OEM Lexus wheels have very conservative offsets. This means you shouldn't have any problems with them rubbing and making contact with your fender, etc.

Maybe Mitsuguy can chime in with technical terms. He is a very knowledgeable person when it comes to wheels/tires.

Also, I think those wheels and tires should fit fine. You are not lowered either correct?

Alright... well, in a nutshell, if you were to draw an imaginary line down the center of the wheel (not center as you see it from the outside of the car, but center as in left to right as it sits on the car), and measure the distance from this center line to the mounting pad (the part that contacts the vehicles hub), you will find the offset... almost all modern vehicles use positive offsets, maybe even high positive offsets...

lexus uses really high offsets on all their vehicles (that I can think of) so fitment from one car to another is typically quite easy...

however, the fitment issue here is going to be outside tire diameter... and in this case, you are only about a 1/4" too big... nothing I would worry about...

Thanks for the help and knowledge guys....

And Sleeper to answer your question - not lowered, I'm stock except my headlight lamps (LOL). I'm just and old(er) guy who isn't really interested in mods like many here - I just come for the knowledge and advise like you and mitsuguy just provided.
