Default Stretching Tires QUESTION? (HELP QUICK PLEASE)

I just got some free 225/50/17 to mount on my 9.5 by 17 inch Supra rims (rear). I did the math and the 225 tire is 11 inches. I drive very spiritedly, and a friend told me that it is very likely that the tires will come off if driven too hard. I was wondering if this is true.... Anyone with any experiences? Please help.

225/50 ?

Isn't the sidewall too fat to stretch? I mean should you go lower profile?

Hey, thanks for the response. I got the tires for free, as my "real" tires are coming in about 10 days. I need to drive my car, so I was just wondering if it would be safe to drive with those. 50 series is too wide to stretch?

I think it will be fine. It will look like a donut though, kinda. Just be safe man.

Why are you going to stretch the tires? I know they were free tires, but a 225 should be put on say a 8 inch wheel. The stock supra rim isn't going to stick out past the fender to where a stretch would be functional. I say sell those tires, and get something that would work better. like a 255/45 or something, or probably what stock specs on a tire for a supra rim are.

EDIT

I just saw that these were just temporary tires. It'll be fine.

just a quick note...

225 width tire is not 11 inches....

225mm divided by 25.4mm/in = 8.86 inches

That's what I thought. But I don't feel like doing math.

Default Bad idea

Its a really bad idea... if you dont push it too much it will probably just wear the tires uneven and cause handling problems, but its still not a safe thing to do... even if you do take it easy. Plus I would think it would look stupid.

The recommended rim width range for that size is 6-8 inches. A "stretch" would be like 8.5 maybe 9. 9.5 is just crazy man, just nutso!
