Default Did you buy a fifth (spare) wheel?

Working on getting a set of aftermarket wheels for my GS and realized I wasn't sure exactly how many to buy?

For those of you who have aftermarket wheels - did you get a fifth wheel to use as a spare? Does it fit in the factory spare location OK? I know both 16 and 17" factory wheels fit back there (have had both).

I'm thinking it would be useful to get one so that

1) if I needed it as a spare it would match the rest
2) no concerns on uneven fit if used as a spare
3) if I curbed or cracked one of the other four, I'd have a backup immediately.

What have you done? Thanks in advance.

I'd like to know as well.

I would imagine conventional wisdom would state your 5th should be the smaller width of the two sizes, ie. a 3rd front wheel, but I'd like to get the expert opinions from CL as well.

if you are getting some rare, sought after jdms imported for you from japan, and budget allows, i would consider the 5th rim. this is esp true if you are getting same size f+r.
if you are doing the stagger set up, i would adivce the lareger rear size due to road side parking problem...personally experience.

for me, i might actually consider getting 6 rims total...say 3(8.5/9), and 3(9.5/10)...

But what about a flat on the front? The wides ones (9.5s) won't help you.

I know, I know, Lexus RSA, right

I don't think a 20" wheel will fit into the stock spare location...I'm going to have HRE make a single 18" wheel so that I can at clear my front brakes...the 18" spare will be a little "undersized" but it should fit right into the spare location...

If I had stock brakes, I would just keep the stock spare...having a mismatched wheel really makes you want to get the broken one fixed ASAP!
