Yo. I have an IS350. I have the optional 18" wheels on it now but I was thinking of getting either some R1 racing or Tork wheels. I was wondering if I would be better to stick with 18's or to get 19's if I want the best performance. To my understanding, having less sidewall on the tire makes the steering a little quicker, but when I think of racers, I don't think low profiles. any input would be helpful....thanks in advance

lower profile tires will help on handling (less flex). also wider wheels will help. if you get good quality forged wheels, 19s would be lighter as well so your car will be faster

lower profile doesn't necessarily mean better handling... it does mean less slip angle - the less flex there is, the less ability the tire has to hang on after it's gotten past it's mechanical ability to hold the road...

it definitely makes steering tighter... many vehicles handle better with smaller diameter wheels however

At higher speeds, the 18s had a Hugely different feel than 19s when making high speed turns, and bends. Low speed is slightly affected, and the bumpsteer was GREATLY affected.
18s > 19s

nice car man. I think I'm going to stick with 18's then cause I'll be happy with the performance plus they ride alot better.

hmm i was thinking.. if bigger rims = more performance.. how come Nasca or Formula indy cars dont use massive rims?
