Default Question Regarding SSR Wheels????

What do you think a fair price is for 19x8.5-19x9.5 SSR Agle Strusse Wheels. They are chrome and come with tires (not sure which ones). I was wondering, can you de-crome a wheel, like get them powder coated or something.

Here is a pic of them. What do you guys think.

mc,

it all depends on the condition and how old are the rims/tyres...personally, unless the rims are very sought after, otherwise i would not pay more than ~$15-1800 for a set...i mean if i want to spend over $2k, i would consider save up a bit more $$$ for brand new ones, in the style/finish/size that i like...

If the condition is very good to excellent, I think they're worth a little more...they're not a common wheel and not the easiest wheels to get...if you can get it for $1500-$1800 with tires, I would buy them...I think closer to $2000 is more likely...

You can strip the chrome finish on the face and refinish it with paint or powdercoat. It's just raw aluminum underneath the plating.

mcgong,

Just FYI. I purchased a set of Agle Strusse NDP (chrome) from RMM 2 years ago. I treated them like I do all other things....very meticulously. The finish began to dull and peel. I contacted RMM who referred me to the distributor in Hawaii, Eurosport. I had to send one wheel to Eurosport for analysis. Eurosport referred me to Speed Star Co in Japan. I had to send the wheels to Japan. Speed Star replaced the center (mesh) with a silver painted finish free of charge. I have not had any problems since. It was a royal pain in the A$$. I had to pay for shipping to Hawaii and then to Japan

After all this, I am glad to say that I am very happy with the wheels over all. My point is just be careful with this finish. Maybe I just got a bad set? IDK?

As Manaray said, they are not a very common wheel. Ironically, this is what caught my attention. IMO, even after all this, SSR is a good quality wheel. I think RMM sells them for $700 19x8.5 and $750 19x9.5 new. A pretty reasonable price for semi-solid forging. Use this as your base. gs4will and Manaray are the experts so I would consider their advice in any decision.

Just thought a personal experience might help.

Here is a pic. I originally had the wheels on my GS4. Hope this helps.

Manaray, Will, Mac, Lee2375,

Thanks for the input. I will consider all that was said. Do any of you know how much it would cost per wheel to get it powder coated. Are there any shops in So Cal that can do it so I don't have to ship out the wheels? Thanks again.

Yes Mac, thanks for the kind words the great picture. It looks good!

Another solution for fading/chipping is to just get it chrome dipped. Japanese chrome isn't like tyipcal American chrome (though there are MANY crappy American chroming jobs)...the best is "triple dipped"...but I think the silver center with the high polish lip looks PERFECT on that SC430!

MCGong - Glad we could help...
