How to remove tire from rim without special equipment?
Does anyone have tips on how to remove old tire easily from a rim at home without the special tire removal/installation equipment like you find in a tire shop? I'm trying to get 4 new tires mounted on these rims at a tire store but can't get them all in the trunk with the tires on.

I don't think there is an easy way to do it without equipment. An old SAAB service manual showed a way to do it by tying a rope around the circumference of the tire and twisting it tight with a lug wrench to break the bead. It certainly doesn't sound easy. Maybe somebody from a 3rd world country will know how they do it out in the bush these days.

A friend of mine told me he used to break the bead by driving up onto the tire and then used a big screwdriver to work the tire off the wheel.
Doesn't sound easy, but I guess it's possible.
