How do you get asphalt off rims?
I've got small pieces of asphalt stuck to the inside of a couple of spare rims. The asphalt has hardened to a rock-like consistency. I've heard that mineral spirits will remove it without hurting the clearcoat. Does anyone know if this will work? I might try it anyway, since these rims aren't worth a whole lot.
I've also heard that peanut butter might do the trick .

there are bug and tar removers at all the auto shops and most targets/walmarts.
i don't remember if i tried goo gone on it, but that's something i'd do this time around. i tried the clay bar method and it reduced it, but left a smooth residual. at that point, i sanded it down and repolished the lip. that's definitely last resort
