Default Wheel Question (Scratching My Head)

I have a wheel that is 19x10 offset +45 bolt pattern 114.3. I have another wheel that is the same model and specs but with 112 bolt pattern. The lip on one is 3.25" deep and 2" deep on the other.

I'm not a wheel expert. Can anyone tell me why the lips are different?

They might have different disk types.

i agree with seize, it's very possible that it's due to disk type, one has spokes that curve out more to fit brakes.

Do you mean they are made for different types of brake rotors? If so, wow, that means one cannot give just the specs but the rotor setup needs to be included as well. I do realize wheel shops will ask what kind of vehicle it is for.

not the rotor, but the caliper. for example if you have bbk, the spokes sometimes need to curve out more to clear the calipers, thus reducing the size of the lips

for example, when i get wheels for the gs (stock brakes are small), i have the choice of getting stand disk or low disk in the front (that will clear the stock brakes). they have bigger lip size.

however i have ap racing, and those wheels won't fit. i need to get high disk wheels in order to clear, and that will result in less lips

Another thing is intended vehicle. If its a custom wheel, then perhaps it was built for a Audi or another 4wd car, and the original request was for same size / same lip all around for rotation purposes. I have people that order their wheels that way.

Thanks for all the replies. It makes sense now. I thought I was at fault for giving the incorrect specs. I ordered this replacement wheel for a 2IS and clearly, that's not the car it is made for. It should be replaced with the right wheel or I should be given a refund. This wheel is hard to find since it has been discountinued. Thanks again.

well for a start it seems like you got a wrong bolt pattern anyway, so definitely should get the correct one

The wheel has been discontinued and this is the closest we could find. The 112 bolt pattern has been changed to fit a 114.3. We test fitted it on my car and it fits perfect. But with the lip size being different, I dont want to use it. The guy is looking for another one. If he can't find one, he'll just give me a refund. BTW, I didn't pay for the replacement wheel since Lexus damaged it.

Does it look like the wheel with smaller lip is made for BBK? It doesn't look like it to me. I'll let you guys be the judge.

Just found out more about this. It's not that the replacement wheel was made for bbk. It was made for a different car and the wheel distributor failed to notify me of the lip size. It is because of this, he will keep looking for a replacement or give me back the money that Lexus paid him.
