What's the widest tire that will fit on OEM front wheels without rubbing?
I'm buying some track tires for an upcoming HPDE, and I'm curious what the widest tire anyone has been able to put on their front stock wheels. I'm currently considering a 245/40-18, but I'm skeptical that it will fit.
I've seen quite a few people running 235s with bigger wheels and more agressive offsets. I don't know if the offsets actually need to be smaller to keep the wheel / tire from rubbing the suspension, or not. I would hope that there would be just a bit more room to allow the 245s...
I'm considering purchasing PIAA Super Rozzas for my IS350 Sport and was wondering which offset i should get for the fronts and rears...this is what they offer:

I just had one of my 245/35-18s mounted up on an OEM front wheel. I'm surprised at how well the tire fits the 8" wide wheel. I'll mount it up on the car in a little bit to see if it rubs...
Go easy on him, Greg - he's a noob. Rasengan, you might want to post your question in a more appropriate thread, or start a new one...
yea you're right, i didn't know there was a separate tire and wheels forum here but i guess there is...this thread probably should have been made in there as well

Actually, I didn't even consider the tire and wheel forum, since I wouldn't expect many people to see it there. I just thought it was funny that you asked such an unrelated question. Good luck finding the answer though!
I ran a 245/40 18 front and 275/35 rear with 38mm offset, a little rubbing on inner fender but that is an easy fix since its only the plastic liner.
That's great! Where did it rub? Did it rub because the offset was too high, or too low (ie. which side of the tire rubbed in what place on the fender)?
