Rim Question (any opinions are appreciated)
I have a set of SSR Hasemi Old School Mesh, +45 offset, 2" step lip, here are some pics..
Before, when I picked them up...
NOW!!!
Okay, well here goes my question.... The wheels are 18x8.5 all around, I love these wheels, but now the project I am working on deserves a wider wheel on the rear (for looks)... Does anyone know where to take/send wheels out to get a wider rim... I want to keep the same face/mesh, but want to do a staggered setting on these... I am in need of getting 2 of these made into 9.5 wide but also having a bigger lip.
Sorry for the rambling, any help????
Thank you.
Milt

Well since people with 3 piece wheels have the option of changing out the face if damaged (depending on the make) I was hoping this were the same for the rim itself....

Just because the wheel is 3 piece doesn't mean you can get a wider rim halve. Any wheel maker that offers wheel sizes in custom offsets (HRE, I-F) is likely to offer upgrades, but if your rim model is ONLY sold with certain offsets and sizes, then I would suspect they won't offer custom sizes.
HRE, I-Forged and others do offer wider rim halves for their 3 piece wheels.
I know that Enkei does not offer it on their 3 piece wheels. You will need to check with your wheel maker to see if this is even an option.
In the case of Enkei, my outer rim got severly damaged, and they would not even support replacing the "existing" rim half, even though it was a 3 piece rim.
They said I could only buy a completely new rim. Needless to say I would not suggest anyone to buy 3 piece rims from Enkei.

I have heard of "widening" a wheel. There are not that many places around here in NorCal that do it. I learned of one just as of today. My friend decided to try and "widen" the stock wheels on his Chevelle instead of running aftermarket wheels. He originally checked out Wheel Techniques but they said they did not have anybody capable of doing that within the past 5 years. You can only imagine the precision involved especially in the welding process. 1mm off at 70mph is a scary thought. Anyways, he said he would take to a place in Stockton called "Stockton Wheels." I asked my friend if they agreed to do it. He told me that they specialized in that task of widening wheels. Try looking them up and giving them a call.
