Buy new take off's or cheaper wheels? IS350
Here's my situation.
There are tons of take off stock wheel sets anywhere from $900-$1100 on eBay and Craigslist. I recently had to buy one tire due to a side wall finding a screw and that was $300 OTD for one tire alone.
Since I'll need new tires in about 2k miles anyway, I know I will be spending at least $1.2k for tires installed give or take
With that background, If I can get away with a cheap 19" wheelset with tires for around that or am I dreaming? I'm not talkin BBS or high dollar stuff. Just a decent looking set like this Stern set here on eBay
I like the look but don't know anything about wheels. I'd hope to keep it about $1500 as a complete rolling set.
Thoughts or ideas?

I just got a great set of 18" MRR wheels from D2autosport which is a CL sponsered vendor for a great price under a grand. Your best bet to to call them and talk to Derrick about their clearance wheels. Good quality wheels for an extra summer set of shoes.

Disposable rims...
Let's just say that you will either spend about $1000 on new tires on the stock IS wheels, or spend about $1500 on new wheels and tires.
PROS FOR CHANGING TIRES ONLY:
Keeping stock tires and wheels won't affect your warranty.
No problems with TPMS.
Better tire quality.
PROS FOR GETTING NEW WHEELS/TIRES:
New look.
You can sell the OEM wheels for $500 and break even.
You can always change and sell the wheels when the tires wear out again.
You'll most likely have better performance with the stock wheels and new tires, instead of getting the cheaper wheels/tires. However, if you're more concerned about pure aesthetics, then new wheels may be right for you.
All in all, you break even in price.
My opinion: get the new wheels, make sure they're using good tires, and sell the OEM wheels. Put the TPMS sensors in the spare. If the new wheels aren't good enough for you, you can always buy back the OEM wheels online...
