Optimal tire size for RX350 rims on a 2GS
Ran a search and found a few bits of information, but not enough for my liking. I am considering putting on a set of 18" RX350 rims on my 2000 GS400. I was wondering what the optimal size tire would be. I was thinking 235/40/18. Can I go any wider on a 7" wide wheel? I assumed 235 was not too wide as it is the oem tire size, but tirerack's specs don't seem to agree. I know there is one active member on here who has this on their 2gs. Does anyone know whether I will experience a decrease in handling by going to an 18x7 wheel? I am currently running 18x8.5 in the front and 18x9.5 in the rear.
BTW, I am considering two all season tires from tirerack, the Kuhmo ASX and the Continental Conti Extreme Contacts. Anyone had any experience with either? I need these rims to be my everyday wheels and every once in a while we get light amounts of snow in Washington (3 inches last night).
Thanks
