Problem! - rubbing on 275/35/19 tires
hey yall...just got some new shoes for the gs4.....19x8.5 front (245/35/19), 19x9.5 rear (275/35/19)....tires are nitto neo-gens....wheels are HP evo's.
i followed the wheel/tire spec off the lgwnorcal site ....but i am rubbing only on the rear passenger side....it is very annoying and seems to be scuffing up my brand new tires. these neo-gens are very meaty
also i am dropped on tein HA's. Any clue as to why i am only rubbign on the rear passenger side? maybe my passenger side is dropped slightly lower than my drivers side?....i would figure it would be the drivers side, since my fat *** is on that side....i duno
what do you guys think? I guess ill have to raise the height a lil bit in the rear.
also, what are the long term effects of your tire rubbing up on the fender? im sure its not good for the tire, but do you think it will cause the tire to blow one day?

I'd just ditch the black plastic trim altogether. It comes off easily with four phillips-head screws. Mine are long gone and I've had no problems at all.
No car is ever perfect left to right. On my GS, the right rear sticks out a tad more then the left, too. It may also have to do with alignment settings or camber adjustment.
Your 275/35-19s are about 1" taller than stock, compounding the problem.

thats correct it is purely asthetic. but you can do a search and find several people who have done it and the procedures.
Keep in mind that there is metal under the plastic tab and so you will be grinding not only plastic but metal also. You will also want to paint the bare metal so that it does not rust after you grind away the metal.

what if i just remove the whole fender lip (black plastic lining in wheel well) instead of trimming it? will that have any adverse effects? lexus put it there for a reason right?....just curious....will i have to worry about rusting or anything else if i totally remove it?

It's all about the tire shape and size. The same size tire in another brand would have probably worked fine.
I'm currently running 20x11 +37 (same relative to the fender as 20x9.5 +18) with 295/25-20 Toyo Proxes 4... of course, my fenders are cut down to nearly nothing, and the car is slammed .
My new rear set-up is 20x12 with 305/25-20

My 19" fat setup rubbed only on the rear passenger side also. It was barely scraping the outside of the tire where the tread meets the sidewall all the way down to the writing. It became noticeably worn over several months.

Time to grind that fender.
