Default Should I get another set of Turanzas, or... ?

Well my tires are literally falling apart on the corners.. I need new tires ASAP. I'm currently running Bridgestone Turanza LS-H and I'm thinking of just getting another set but of the Turanza LS-Z... they have a 40K treadwear rating as opposed to 50K for the H, but are supposed to give a softer ride.

Anybody have reccomendations for a good set of tires for the LS? The car never sees ice or snow, but does see a lot of heavy rain, so wet traction is very important. Tire rack only has a couple of tires in the "Grand Tourign All Season" category, which is what I was looking at, and from those, the Turanza's seem to be the CLEAR winner.. but I've already had a set so I want to see how they compare to others..

Most important thing is a soft comfortable ride including and road noise, and the second is wet performance. I'll get more aggressive tires when I finally buy my wheels

not sure exactly how much the turanzas go for and i have no idea what size your wheels are (they were changed between UCF11 and 20 models) but im EXTREMELY pleased with my Yokohama AVID V4s. i run them in a stock 225/60VR16 size and the ride is incredibly smooth and quiet compared to the Michelins i had on before.

plus, i got these yokos at about $450-500 shipped, installed, and balanced

i *heart* TireRack.

Is it always cheaper to buy frome TireRack? It costs about $40 to ship out here, which is atleast what I would pay in tax, so thats about the same. I've bought my previous tires from WheelWorks and I don't remember how much they ended up charging to get the mounted/balanced. I am thinking of getting my tires from TR and then just going to Exact Motorsport for a full service...

I just put a set of Kuhmo KH16's on my LS (93') and love them. They have great reviews on Tirerack so I went with them. Discount Tire matched the price so I was OTD at $330 installed. Check out the reviews.

(Went with 235/60/16 instead of 225's......don't aks me why )

We just got the Avon Tech MS550 A/S from TheTireRack, the ride is amazing and the traction control in wet is superb, There is barely a loss of traction ~

I'm just curious as to whether you liked the LS-H's. The fact that you're considering the LS-Z's makes me think that you might not like the LS-H's that much. I am currently running LS-Z's on my stock 17s, but am considering a set of LS-H's for my winter 16s.

The LS-H are great tires. THey handle very well and I've seriously somehow gotten 60,000+ miles on them. THey're not rated near that much. The wet traction is great, but lately it has not been good at all... The problem is I wasnt as tuned into my car as I am now when I first bought these tires. I remember how they felt vaguely... but these are definetly good tires. I feel like on certain kinds of pavement they are excessively noisy, and on other types, they are very quiet... but I don't have much to compare to, thats why I'm thinking about trying other brands.

I would like to second the props for the Yokohama Avid V4's. I have them on my GS400 and they are quiet, good ride, and wet weather traction is why I bought them. I have had them for for 20K and believe I will get at least another 10K and maybe 15-20K more. When I look for another set of tires I will consider these first and will have to see a pretty good deal before trying something else.

Thanks for the advice. So the wet traction on the Avid V4s is better than the Turanzas? Wow, the avid's are almost have the price of the turanzas!

I noticed you're a fellow CDT connoisseur.. how do you like those EuroSports? Wish I could fit those in my doors!

Just for reference, I just looked up my records and found out that I got 70,000 miles on my Turanzas...

And I am probably going to go with the Yokohama Avid V4s.
