This would be for a 1998 GS300. I really like the Volk SF Winning wheels in 19". Out of the sizes listed in the chart below, which would be possible to use on this car? I would like to go all the way 10.5" wide in back, but could do 9.5" and still be happy. If I have to shave the fenders that's fine. What do you guys think?

if you want bbk clearance, high disk 19x8.5 +38 and mid disk 19x10.5 +42. front is ok, rear you have to shave all fender

if you don't need bbk clearance, change front to mid disk 19x8.5 +35 for more lip size. might need to roll fender a bit

My next question on this size wheel, is what size tire should be used? I really don't like the stretched look, so I'd like the tire to be as wide as the wheel, and fit perfectly. I'm guessing run a 245 in the front and maybe a 295 or so in the rear?

If you're into an aggressive look, I would use

Front 19x9.5 +32 245/35-19

Rear 19x10.5 +29 275/30-19

This is not for the feint of heart... but would be awesome for a VIP-type fitment.

If you don't want to stretch 'em, the 8.5 +38 offsets and 10.5 +41 will work with 245/35-19 + 295/30-19 for a nice, staight sidewall

Will the tires you listed for a straight sidewall all fit easily? Or will there be mods to do to the front and more than shaving in the rear?

The front wheels & tires will be a slam-dunk.

The rear are similar to the 20" set-up I have on my GS 400.
I had to remove the rear fender arch trim and shave about 4 or 5 mm off of the fender lip.

i can just say that with that setup, it can look sick, but you will need to do a lot of fender work

i guess i still don't understand in full. i have 20x10.5 +41 with 285/30/20, and i shaved the whole rear fender lip to nothing but i still rub very slightly if it's big dip. with 19x10.5 +29 and 275/30/19, i can see where you "safe", but being 12mm more outboard, that's half inch. no matter what tires you use i would still thikn you will rub unless you put negative camber? considering that my setup my wheel is already right by the fender (after shaving)

I'm running a 19X10.5 +30 offset with a 265 tire and I'm not even close to the edge of my fenders. In fact, I still have about 10mm of clearance left. My camber adjustments are pushed all the way out (from when I had coilovers) and I haven't had a problem rubbing.

rominl - You might be rubbing slightly since you have a taller overall diameter. So at the point where a 19" would dip down and camber in, a 20" would with the larger diameter might be rubbing before it can camber in. Just a theory, and what I noticed when I had 20s.

Maybe some 19x11 +35 offset in the rear for my next wheels

poyet, could be coz' i am running 20s. that's one of the things i mentioned above, with 19s you get a bit more clearance. but in your case most of the clarence actually comes from the 265 tires. it stretches quite a bit on the 10.5 creating the space. 275 will be less stretching

also, it has a lot to do wit the brand and model too. you can't just go and say this size tires and you are good. that's dangerous. just like my case, same size 285/30/20, but the michelin pilot sport a/s is no stretch at all, very wide and meaty, but the dunlop leman 702 are so stretched it's not funny. that's HUGE different we are talking about 10mm EASY

I think the 275 will also fit the same way, Johnny (TLW) is running this set up. I haven't seen 285, so I really don't know if that's going to work. I have ran Falkens, Dunlops, AVS and Ventus, I guess I have been lucky with rounded side walls.

I was just making a comment on you post above, that's why I mentioned the 19" and 20" difference. it was just a theory anyways.....

Well in the size chart at the top of the thread there is a 19x10.5 with a +42 offset, so that would be much safer correct?

well i have 10.5 +41 (but 20s) on my gs400. if you go for 19x10.5 +42 together with 275/30, like i said in my first post, some fender shaving should be fine

How about 20x11.5 +42 with 295/25-20... Way ahead of you! (being machined this week)

Henry's fat Michelins are what's killing him. They are closer to a 295 tire in 'other' brands of tires.

I was running 20x10.5 +40 with 285/30-20 Yokohama and it was 2mm away from my chopped rear fenders.

I changed to Falken FK-451 285/30-20 on the same wheels and suddenly they look lost... I can stick a finger between the tire and the fender, still plenty of room. I stuffed a 10mm spacer behind the wheel (making 20x10.5 +30) and they STILL worked!

Here's the "old" 20x10.5 +30 with 285/30-20. The fenders are pulled a bit here, it still clears by a ton! Can you tell the fenders are pulled? You can easily see it in person. (yes, the car is finally painted!)
