Default directional tires put on incorrectly, will it damage the treads???

hi there everyone..

as everyone might know, ive been having so much bad luck w/ my car since i got the new wheels and such. well, long story short...the tire shop that installed my sensors installed my rear tires and they were put the wrong way. i was told by wheel techniques in sj that it was wrong. the guys at wheel tech said the tread would be all messed up since it was driven for over 5k miles. i called the tire place that did the installation and they said that it would damage the tread at all. can anyone confirm this?? are they just saying that to shut me up?

thanks all!!!

I did some internet searches, and found a few relevant pages. In short, it looks like you're okay.

i think in general you should be fine, especially that youa re not driving crazy. just that the tires won't get you much good traction at all

I don't believe you've damaged anything. Some ppl run the tires backwards to smooth out the treads (I don't know if this actually worlks). They only issue maybe driving in the water that the water chanels won't function correctly, but once they're on straight again, you should be golden....
